Saturdays are the best day of the week. Slept in a little late and then got up and played WOW for a little while. Helped Marlyse out with getting Retrospect-GDS working on her site. Chatted for a while with Ioan, who is on vacation in Romania. Now were off to the Nike employee store and some lunch.

The Portland radio landscape was already in pretty bad shape, but it took a turn for the worse last Thursday when 910am changed formats. I guess I can live without most of their programming, but I’ll really miss the Rick Emerson Show. Rick Emerson was their most talented host and I think the loss of his show is a huge loss to the listening audience.

Rick’s show wasn’t about anything in particular. He was just a geek talking to other geeks about geeky shit. Now, maybe his show wasn’t popular with non-geeks, I wouldn’t know, but there are a lot of us out here. Unfortunately, without the Rick Emerson Show, all we’re left with on the radio is a bunch of conservative blowhards (and maybe a sprinkling of liberal blowhards) pontificating on the political topic of the day.

Rick’s show was refreshingly free of such bullshit. It was genuine and entertaining. There’s got be a place for show like his in a city like Portland. I know my day would be a lot better for it.

If you feel the way I do, then maybe you’ll want to do something about it?

Retrospect-GDS now has experimental support for external photo gallery software. Coppermine is the first photo gallery software supported. Some quick and dirty instructions on how to use the new plugin are available the Infused Solutions forums.

So, I guess after purchasing yet another Kelly Clarkson song in iTunes today, I should just give up the charade and admit that I’m a sappy pop music listening dope. What’s my new Kelly Clarkson song of choice? “Where Is Your Heartâ€?. I may as well just buy the whole album. I’ll probably end up with the whole thing eventually anyway.

I’ve never been shy about saying that The Cranberries are my favorite band of all time. I own every album, single, special bonus edition, and bootleg CD that I could get my hands on. So it should be no surprise that I’m excited by the news that Noel Hogan recently formed a new band called Mono Band.

Today I downloaded the first single from Mono Band called “Waves” from the SXSW festival site. If the the rest of the album is anything like the single, I think I’ll enjoy the new album immensely.
