I upgraded my Powerbook to Tiger last night. I did the upgrade option rather than archive and install as most people recommend because I didn’t want to hassle with re-configuring everything. The whole process took less than 30 minutes and all of my applications seem to be working perfectly. The only issue I’ve seen so far is that my hosts file was overwritten during the upgrade.

When you upgrade Panther to Tiger do you install the OS over the existing one or does it uninstall it and then install Tiger? I just wanted to know because im thinking of upgrading my iBook G4 running 10.3.9 but im not sure if it is wise because I only have a 30gb HDD.
It appears that it just writes over the existing OS files, so it shouldn’t require the extra space like Archive & Install does.
