The new date parsing class for Retrospect-GDS is almost complete. I’m still playing with the final output format, but I believe the the parsing logic is 99% complete for all the standard gedcom date formats. This week I’ll be doing extensive testing with various gedcom files to make sure that all the input format variations are accounted for. I also hope to uncover as many non-standard date formats as I can so that I can code for those as well.

Is anybody actually using the beta GedXML60 specifications? At first perusal it doesn’t seem much better than the Gedcom 5.5 spec. Maybe the benefits will become clear to me after I read the entire document… but I doubt it.

Yesterday I rode a 20 mile loop from my house, out to Lacamas Lake, through downtown Camas, and back via the old Everygreen Highway. The ride was tougher than I thought it would be, but I thinks it’s because I was already tired from riding ±20 miles on each of the previous two days.

Despite my being tired, I really enjoyed the ride. It was a beautiful day.

My goal is to work myself up to an average of 120 miles per week by the end of the summer.

Updated the genealogy database this morning. This update contains all the information submitted to me by many helpful people over the last several months.

I keep forgetting to update this blog now that I’ve got the development forums set up. Work on Retrospect-GDS has come to a standstill for the last couple of weeks while I work on another client project. This project will go on for at least another week, and then I should have some time to get the next release out the door.
